Turning Point USA’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Draws Millions Of Viewers

Gabby Barrett was the next to perform. She kicked off her two-song set with a performance of “I Hope,” her first single release following her third-place finish on American Idol‘s 16th season. She wrapped her time on stage with her 2020 single “Good Ones.”

Lee Brice threw it back to 2014 for his opening song, “Drinking Class.” Brice then offered a nod to TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, saying “Ol’ Charlie, he gave people microphones so they could say what’s on their minds. And this is what’s on mine.”

Brice then debuted his new song called “Country Nowadays.” The song will be featured on his upcoming 30-track album. He wrapped up his time on stage with his 2012 hit “Hard To Love.”

Kid Rock brought patriotism and a country cover to the Super Bowl halftime show.

Ahead of the show, Kid Rock, TUPSA’s headliner and an outspoken conservative, teased his performance in a video message, saying that fans can expect “exactly what they think I will do” as well as “the unexpected.” He also made it clear that he and the other artists tapped for the halftime show are doing it simply to give their fanbase that “loves America” and “loves Jesus” an opportunity to be entertained.

Kid Rock promised energy, and he delivered! He opened his 8-minute set with a rowdy rendition of “Bawitdaba,” one of his most popular singles released in 1999.

One of the biggest surprises of the show was Kid Rock’s performance of Cody Johnson’s “‘Til You Can’t.” The singer called it “one of the greatest written songs that I’ve heard in a long time.”

He added a new verse to the end of the song that wasn’t included in Cody Johnson’s version and will be releasing it to streaming services on Monday (Feb. 9). He told listeners that “somebody” told him that there was a verse that still needed to be written.

“There’s a book that’s sitting in your house somewhere
That could use some dusting off
There’s a man who died for all our sins
Hanging from the cross
You can give your life to Jesus
And he’ll give you a second chance
‘Til you can’t”

“We recorded it a while back, and I said, ‘Man, if we’re going to play it, why don’t we put it out for people that night?’”
